So my dishwasher is over filling and spilling out all over the floor... Observations: 1) start cycle open door water continues to poor out of opening on the inside of the washer and will overfill and spill onto the floor 2) start cycle wait a few min. open door all the way *sometimes* water will stop flowing 3) Grey Float on the bottom of the dishwasher does not seem to do anything when door is open whether water is coming out of the hole I can pick up on it and nothing changes. 4) Dishwasher will work if I can get the water to stop flowing by either opening the door at the right moment or by turning off the valve under the sink after enough water has filled the pan. Then after the wash cycle starts turning the water back on it will complete the wash cycle with out over flowing and I have clean dishes Here is a pic of the tag inside the dishwasher from hell.

The float is only designed to stop the power to the water valve if there is an over flow issue, however it can't stop the water if the water valve is stuck....I'd be replacing the valve. Water Valve Link Float Switch Kit Link (If Needed ) ![]()

Question for you... Why would the washer work once it gets past the 1st fill stage? Isnt the process 1) fill up, start wash cycle (pre wash) 2)empty 3) fill up, wash cycle with soap 4) empty 5) rinse 6) dry It has me confused that once it I can get past the 1st fill, the rest of the cycles work like normal. PS thanks for the quick reply

sounds like the float switch is flakey....have a look at the micro-switch. You need to turn the water off at the sink and test for voltage at the valve (with wires connected) during the fill cycle. should have 120V...during this time if you life the float assembly your voltage should drop to "0" if the float switch is working correctly. The units fills by a pre- programmed time in the controller, not by volume.

Nope, cannot adjust time. The tech sheet the is supposed to me behind the kick plate will have the sequence on it...should show the aloted fill time.

yep ,665 Whirlpool...not sure why they dont have it on the sticker??? may can put the unit into diagnostic mode via the tech sheet, but I dont think it will yield any results with your particular problem. you either have a bad valve, float switch, or controller. voltage tests will reveal your delemma.

need to verify that voltage...if you have voltage to the valve during the drain cycle the your control is bad...no voltage equals bad valve.

Nope, the closest thing would be a tech sheet which the site we would get that info from in inaccessable...plus being made for Sears (Kenmore) there would not be any guarentees anyways. have you looked behind the kick plate for you tech sheet? The voltage test you need to perform is very simple. all you need is a volt meter and 1/4" nut driver.

SearsPartsDirect lists 665.17592201 TechSheet = LIT8537797 (usually without the ancient "LIT") previously, on the SM website, for model number, remove the 665. OR 110. ect .. (thanks to Pegi) results model# 17592201 = tech sheet 8537797 you have to jump through a few hoops to get there, now
