New fridge installed 9/15/10. Have run a minimum of 10 gallons of water through the dispenser and am still getting a very strong plastic taste. Never had this problem with old fridge.

The world of plastic tubing and BPA! Fun fact to know and tell: it is always good to avoid drinking water that's been in plastic. Plastic imparts not only taste and odors to water but also harmful chemicals, like BPA.

In your present case, I think you're just going to have to run more water through the dispenser and tubing to get rid of the odor.

Also make sure your supply line is made out of copper.
