Read all I could the past three days on this topic. Freezer temperature +18, condenser coils cleaned with a tie wrap and piece of cloth, evaporator coils light frost, evap fan blowing, blue flap(return air vent)moves back and forth when the freezer door open and shuts, digital thermometer inserted in the cold exhaust outlet(up top)drops to 34 when the freezer door is open. Do I have a wussy $80 fan with blue blades(894481)that has given up the ghost(this early before Halloween) or am I overlooking something simple. Oh yeah, I reset the freezer/Fridge controls to 4 1/2 to see if that would help. Please tell me where to look? If I have to, I can try to remove upper housing assembly and test the "damper coil"

has the Freezer been at +18 for the last few days or more ? Was the Evaporator Coil Frosted/iced/clogged with frost ? Does the Defrost System work ?

18+ for two days, when we discovered the warm refrig there was ice buildup in the top right coils(evenly white frosted otherwise) where all the wires are. Defrosted this with a hair dryer and there has not been a build up since. Don't know if the defrost system works but assume so cause there's no ice build up? The compressor has not stopped running to my knowledge in three days.

Ok, wife said compressor finally shut off. Freezer still at +18 fridge at 55. How do I isolate the "air flow" to the fridge?. If the freezer door is left open, the probe in the "air entrance to the fridge" drops to 34. What am I missing? I'll be happy to take photos, how long should I wait for "TROUBLE' to show up. Domo ahead of time for your time

You'll need to disassemble the inside of the freezer, just take down the inside back wall so you can get a look at the evaporator coils. Post a picture here as Reg suggested; you can use a free image hosting service for this and then post the links here in this topic so we can have a look at it.

Mission soon to commence....I have a freezer full of food that comes out and goes back in when I do and inspection. On this occasion, will I have another assignment after photography(in the freezer)or can I button up and refill? (like ohm-ing the coil and the thermistor prior to closing the cover?) I'm in no hurry, the fridge contents are in the garage reefer.(no room at the freezer though)

After you get the food out in the back wall inside the freezer removed, let the refrigerator run for about another hour or so and then get a picture of the evaporator coils and post that.

Hey! The pictures turned out good. How long was the refrigerator running when you took these photographs? I'm a little concerned about the lack of frost on the evaporator coils, that's why I'm asking.

Oh most gracious Kirin afficionado, I am an old man(61 goin' on 42) who wears hearing aids and who depends on his lovely bride for running information. I will task her with the running times. The warm temps were noticed on Sunday with a warm beer. Removed all food from refrig side...kept what we could...bought new milk,butter,eggs.etc. Monday I cleaned and wiped the warm side. Ignorance dictated the froze side was ok. Got digital thermometer(BBQ must have)probe for warm side and analog for freezer. Wife said this thing hasn't shut off. I "hair dried" the coils on Sunday and, cause I can't hear, my only reference has stated it was off last night and off when we took the pictures today and is running now. Do you have a way to send flag up when running and not running?

GrampyJoe wrote: ... Do you have a way to send flag up when running and not running? let me think about that for a while ... not much frost on the Evaporator... may have been right after a Defrost Cycle... take a few more pictures now ... .. still would need to know if the Compressor runs "forever" and not much frost (sealed system leak) OR if the Compressor is turning OFF, (but it's not in a Defrost Cycle), then the Cold Control may be bad

My last post was Oct 4th. The refrig has been running since. I know I have heard the compressor off, but I didn't post the times. The loud noise that I had been hearing was the freezer coil fan rattling in it's bracket(bumping). Today I tested the damper control and it works fine. I still get NO AIR VOLUME from the freezer to the fridge side. Here are the latest photos:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
