My Viking DFSB483 Ice Maker is leaking. Most of the time this lead to icebergs, but sometimes water makes it to the floor. This icemaker has been replaced twice under warranty, but the warranty is now expired. Is there something better than the original Viking junk? Is there a service manual available to help guide me in replacing it?

this unit uses the normally trouble-free wp style modular icemaker. most often ,the leaks on this POS viking unit are the result of a frozen fill tube. there is a "band-aid" heater kit available to combat this problem. the kit you need is dependent upon the date of manufacture : pre 8/26/05 uses 007571-000...post 8/26/05 uses 007573-000. where do you find the "icebergs" forming when this happens? are you sure it is the icemaker? could your defrost drain be stopped up?

The refrigerator is pre 8/26/05, but the latest icemaker might be newer. The icebergs are generally clumped together cubes in the ice tray. It is apparent that water was dumped on top of the cubes after they were ejected. The water on the floor might well be from a clogged defrost drain or evaporator pan overflow. I was hoping I could get a service manual to help me work through it. Your POS comment let's me know that you are very Viking knowledgeable.
