I am one of a growing group of folks who have had the cup drive (part: WR17X11459) in the icemaker bucket break. I need a diagram/instructions that will help me install a new part. Thanks!

There's not really a break down down that will show you how to do this. If I remember correctly there are 4 phillips head screw on the front of the bucket....2 on the back side and 2 underneath to remove the front and I believe to have to remove the bracket for the rod in the rear. You should be able to slide the corkscrew forward and replace the cup.

Thanks for the input. I had it apart last night--2 phillips on each side and one for the rod that controls crushed/cubed ice. Things still seem to be "together". One site I looked at said you need to break the tabs on a cover, then buy a new part with the tabs...how interesting. I'll pull it out of the freezer and take another look. Perhaps it's actually an IQ test. Not sure what it means if we cannot figure it out...

Installing WR17X11459 cup drive for GE icemaker. OK..resolution; I fixed it  Between posts at this site: http://www.partselect.com/PartDetail.aspx?inventory=964134#RepairStory and pictures/dialog at this site (this page says break tabs--you DON'T need to break any tabs: http://media.fotki.com/1_p,sqgbbtwdgbtsbsgxgtqsskgwtqkq,vi/tsftkdrbkxkbgsffsqg/1/1303472/5961857/image34359img-or.jpg I was finally able to fix it. Quick summary: 1) remove ice tray from freezer, 2) remove 4 phillips head screws from base of unit, 3) remove phillips head screw from arm mechanism, disengage end of arm from plastic part inside unit, then replace screw to hold arm in place, 4) parts that look like they depress do not--use screwdriver(s) to gently pry plastic away from the place that looks like it depresses. Auger and cutter will then slide out from base. Put cup in end of auger, then follow instructions in reverse to reassemble. It can be done in 15 to 20 minutes!

yep, good job....and i'm glad you didn't follow those instructions on "breaking" the tabs...you should never have to break something to repair it

amen! today...tackled a malfunctioning clock timer unit in our "Magic Chief" 12-year old range. The timer would go off at all hours of the day/night. One could mash on the buttons and, perhaps, get it to stop for a period of time. We've been turning the range off at the breaker. Took awhile to figure out how to get the top off...turns out it unlataches on the front (fastener clips like on the top of a washer and dryer...my unit isn't hinged as indicated in the owner's manual--it slides back and up:-) Anyway, wiring schematic seemed to indicate I could just disconnect white or black wires w/o affecting any other item in the circuit--this is a low-tech range and the clock/timer only affects itself. Anyway, didn't have to spend +/-%60 for a new clock/timer unit for a range we'd like to replace:-)Got it reassembled, all seems to work and the timer doesn't work
