But please give me very specific and detailed instructions on where to put the two probes on the meter thingy - on both ends of it! As you can see, I'm pretty much without a clue.

Help? Did you guys give up on me? I'm not sure what to do next. Should I find a service repair shop and take it in? Buy a new one? Any guidance would be most welcome.

On the control board where the big plug with all the wires plugs into it you should see a red wire and a white wire side by side. Should be locations # 1 and # 3 on the board.![]() Turn your meter to V~ 200 With the microwave plugged in put 1 meter lead in the back of the plug where the "red" wire is....and put the other meter lead in the back of the plug where the "white" wire is. The plugs are pretty small and it may be hard to get the meter leads to make contact. if you cant then we will have to improvise. If you do have 120 Volts then your control board is bad if you don't have 120 Volts then we will have to do some testing.

yes you have it right, double check your meter in a regular wall outlet just to confirm that your meter is still working correctly..should show 110-120 dont change the setting. 1 lead in one and the other lead in the other. if your meter shows 110-120 try it on the microwave one more time for good measure

oh boy. I'm getting confused now. I tested the wall outlet - but had to move the probes around on the meter to get it to register. Here's a pic. And then I read that I needed to move the red probe over. So here is the microwave board test with that set up. Did I do it right?

ok, thats a great sign if you visually follow that red wire it will lead to an object looking like this ![]() the other side of this thermostat will have a black wire attached to it. leave you meter lead connected to the white wire like it already is and take the other meter lead off the red wire and touch it to the black wire end if your meter now shows 120V your thermostat is bad

No worries hun. I'm getting ready to call it a night online anyway. My car broker down today and I spend over two hours on the bus to get home. Need some sleep I'm afraid. The thermostat is located in the upper left had side (if you standing in front of the microwave and it is set down in a bit of a pocket. How do I remove it? Can I use needle nose pliers or tweezers (tweezers I have, needle nose pliers I can't find atm)
