Got a call from my brother for small refrigerator about 18 wide by 4' tall. Freezer on top. Got a call for total failure that was going on for 2 days and when i got there it was working fine. Very simple set up with no condenser fan and I suspected the starter on the compressor. I told them to call me when it happens again and it has one day later. I couldnt find this exact model online. Just wondering if it a pretty good chance of being the starter. I didnt put an amp meter on it but when it was running i watched it cycle a few times and it sounded fine. Just thought i'd throw it out there incase someone has some insight that could be helpful. This fridge is only 16 months old. thanks

When the machine stops, try giving the thermosat a little tap-tap-taperoo and see if it comes on - do this after you are certain it has stopped working for more than 30 minutes

whats the model #...alot of these smaller units you cant get parts for..they are throwaway appliances...you might get a whole new unit, but only if you get an authorized Frigidaire Tech to work on it....dont void your warranty.

This is the model  FRT045GM. It is one of the cutsie stainless steel lowe's one's. Similar models camed up when i checked parts online places but didnt find this exact one. If it is the starter/relay maybe i can take it to my parts house. I havent called them but will monday to see if the model comes up. I have a big secondary  upright frigidaire freezer and in the last 4 years have had to install new starters twice. What is the deal with these units with no condenser fan and no visible coils? Is it a design flaw? Frigidaire is getting a bad rep with me anyway. A new unit similar is a few hundred bucks but i will be doing the repair for free so it is worth it to fix if the parts are available. Besides the starter or thermo i cant see it being much else. The starter isnt smelling at all. I will see about checking the thermostat. He told me that warranty is only 90 days and it's been over a year. thanks

You may be able to find a universal thermostat that will work....usually Frigidaire doesn't supply parts for anything smaller that 13 CuFt....the last one of these I worked on had a bad thermostat....it was 13 months old Frigidare said sorry...can't help ya go buy another.

If it is the thermostat can i bypass it to confirm this and then go from there? There isnt any neutral contact in there, is there? Same with the relay starter, is there any way to check this with an ohm meter or bypass for a sec  to confirm. The ones I have replaced have always burnt and smelled which isnt the case on this unit.

You can by pass the thermostat...just jump it out. As for the relay...just unplug the unit, remove the relay from the compressor (wires still attached) and check for voltage on the side that plugs onto the compressor...if you have voltage then the compressor should run if you don't have voltage check the other side of the relay...if you have voltage there and not on the out going side you know the reay is bad. No voltage to the incoming side then your thermostat is bad....id start with the thermostat...they are a known problem

Frigidaire FRT045GM from Lowes®

Piece of JUNK
Problems with this since day 1. It just shuts off randomly
Can't find the part to try and fix it myself.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
We've bought this unit twice in three years, both have stopped working.
first time it stopped in 18 months,

Buyer BEWARE !!
We bought this product 13 months ago.. and it's quit cooling.
After many phone calls to many people.. these refrigerators are not serviceable!!

Do Not Buy
bought this fridge in January of 2009 and in January of 2010 it stopped working

The worst product ever!
bought this fridge in November of 2007 by January 2008 it stop working

broken time - replacement part not available

bought this product and was extremely pleased with it until it died alittle over a year after I bought it.
The timer malfunctioned and there are no replacements parts available from the manufacturer

This refridgeratior lasted about a year and then leaked some green goo all over the floor

Do not buy this product
We bought this unit to replace a small refrigerator that was not frost-free.

It worked for 14 months and died

Broke on me
I bought one of these less than 2 years ago and it has already quit working!

DON"T BUY THIS JUNK - Frigidaire doesn't stand behind their product
quit working 14 months after purchase.

I called the company and was told they will not even attempt to repair it.

Buyer BEWARE
The first one stop working 2 months and it took 3 months to get the replacement. The replacement just stop working barely a year.

Don't buy this product
Stopped working after 10 months

I would not buy this fridge again
bought this fridge in 2006 and it worked OK for 1 year and then started having problems.

think twice
bought this less than a year ago. about 6 months after i got it, relay went bad.
replaced it with another relay.
2 months after compressor locked up.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY
In the past 2 years I have owed 2 of them.
One refrigerator doesn't make it through one year without stopping.
