Guess Kenmore saw me coming with the appliances. The combination microwave works fine, the convection oven not so much. just got an F-5 error, and the use & care guide is useless;I can't find this error anywhere on the forums, although I'm sure that this has been addressed. Please share your knowledge master appliantologists! Thanks to you in advance ---------------------UPDATE---------------------- It seems to work fine with no food inside...i ran it for a minute or so, i didn't know if it would hurt anything to run it empty. With a plate of food inside, it fails inside of 5 seconds... Last edited on Sat Mar 20th, 2010 08:50 pm by laxdef69 ____________________ Murder-Suicides always occur in the wrong order |

only info. I can find that is similar to your situation indicates either a shorted moisture sensor or an air baffle malfunction. Maybe someone else can find something more concrete.

Thank you...Is there a wiring schematic that can be posted or test I can run on the sensors? Or failing that the repair guide so I could potentially replace the humidity sensor? Is there anything to be concerned about when working on microwaves safety wise? The guides provided by Kenmore are truly worthless. Thank you again! Let's wait a bit...someone may be able to produce a manual or a fault code verification... Yes safety can be an issue win working on a microwave......being inexperienced you will need to discharge the capacitor so it doesn't throw you accrross the room . We can get to that point when the time comes...now let's wait.

The F5 error code indicates a Damper Switch Sensing Error It could have a failed Damper Motor/Door, Damper Switch or Secondary Switch. ... related to the baffle which closes when preheating. The baffle keeps the heated air inside the box from being vented out. The problem could be the microswitch that signals to the processor board that the door is closed. That would explain why 5-10 seconds transpire before F-5 appears. ... it was a problem with the baffle that was mentioned before. It is a metal flap that closes when you want to use the convection oven. If it's not closed, the wiring gets melted. ... there was something blocking the flap from closing. It was fixed in about 15 minutes and have't had a problem since. here's what the Damper Door looks like, and you should be able to see it (try to) close during Convection. ![]() The only mention of "damper" is on the Wiring Diagram ..
