My ice maker has been inoperative since September, and I am getting really thirsty for margaritas! After a little trouble shooting and unfreezing the fill tube (thanks to y'all for posting the instructions!), here is what I've found: The tray fills with water, the cubes get cold and freeze, and after a while the mold heater comes on (ouch! hot!), but the harvest cycle never starts. I can manually start a harvest cycle by gently pulling on the rake. Those cubes get pushed out and everything repeats until the next missing harvest cycle. Other than getting up off the couch every 20 minutes to "make" ice, does anyone have any suggestions? Before I take the dang thing apart and make a real mess, this humble grasshopper decided to ask the masters for advice. You steered me true with my washer last year and I hope you can help again. Thanks, Aaron (Sorry if this gets posted twice. My browser hiccuped last time I tried to post)

Sounds like new icemaker time...much easier to just replace it...the freezer is working correctly right....0 degrees F. No thermometer, but the Ice Cream gets very hard, so it seems cold enough. Acording to the schematic, it looks like the thermostat is working since the mold heater is working. Any idea why the harvest doesn't automatically start? Maybe I'll open it up and tinker. The worst I can do is break... oh yeah, its already broken. Aaron

does the arm swing back to the front, if its stuck back it may think bin is full of ice and not drop load. ??? it should spring back, if not maybe new ice maker needed.

Thanks for the advice, all. I think that the motor had a dead spot or the gear train has high friction. I just unscrewed the gear and rotated it in relation to the motor gear. My wife is enjoying her ice water now! Will probably need a new icemaker soon, but not right now. Aaron
