|Good Morning Fellow Repair peoples!
I have a customer who has the above Maytag SxS with the freezing trouble. I went out a year or so back and installed a damper / restrictor device supplied by Maytag (tech support) in the vent by the meat drawer, which helped. But if the customer re-directs the damper towards the back of the fridge, (to get the cold air away from the drawer) the water line / reservoir freezes. Customer tried closing the vent altogether, and the fridge warms up above "normal" temps. With the exception of the meat drawer area, other areas of the fridge are at acceptable temps.
This model has an "auto-damper" control connected to the freezer temp adjuster - that is, a standard hydraulic cold control connected to a duct damper at the top of the fridge, which I have not checked yet.
