I have 2 under counter ice machines with bad compressors and have found replacements that I'm not sure will work for either. Of course, the person selling them assures me that they will be fine but they are not direct replacements.  I am wondering if there is a way to tell if they will work prior to installation?

The ice machines are both Whirlpool

Models   EHC51 and  EC5100XT

The potential replacements model numbers are

4387964 and # 4387779

I wasn't given the compressor manufacturer but the implication is that these are common items so I'm hoping the model numbers tell you all you need.  If not, I can run that info down.  Thanks in advance for your help,

Jim :)

I'm sorry, I knew that the compressors are not direct replacements.  My idea is that there may be a way to compare the specifications of the compressors to determine if the ones I found would be compatible.

Is that possible?  Surely those listed are not the only ones that could possibly be used?

Jim

You need to get the MFG. Of the compressors that you are wanting to use and find the BTU's and see if they match the originals

Yep, I couldn't find anything either.  Maybe I have the wrong compressor numbers but I think the Model numbers for the machines are right.

TO recapp,  The data I have found is on the compressors I want to use to replace the factory compressors for 2 machines.   Models   EHC511 and  EC5100XT

I will try and see if I can come across some info. Do you know the manufacturers of the 2 original compressors? Its not whirlpool, they manufacturer appliances not compressors.
