I have a SubZero 700TC built in fridge. Build date 2001. Over the last 30 days the temp has crawled up and it is now warm. The freezer section is perfectly cold. The SERVICE light has been blinking. I removed the panels and defrosted the condesor. There was just a little ice on the skinny pipe that enters the condensor. I cleaned the radiator on the bottom of the fridge near the floor of all lint and dirt. I started the fridge back up and over night it was cold 36F again. Returned home today to find it warm after 4 days. I noticed the recir fan on the roof is intermittent. When I first open the door, sometimes it was spinning, sometimes it was dead. I plan to replace that. I feel as if it isn't getting enough cold fluid through the system. What can I check? Will a dead recirc fan cause all this trouble? Does the fluid need to be recharged? Repairman wants $135 just to look at it and they are booked for more than a week and told me to call someone else. Please help Offering $10 paypal to anyone that troubleshoots the problem enough that I can fix it myself. that Evaporator pictures don't look good may have a Sealed System leak ... Does the Fridge Compressor run "forever" ? The Fridge Fan should run any time the Fridge Compressor runs (and the Fridge Door Switch is closed) Sub Zero 700 manuals links PM'd (some diagrams are serial number dependent)

Appreciate the PM!!! It is hard to tell if the compressor runs at all times. The unit is fairly quiet and just hums from the sounds of the fans. I'll have to pull the lower panels off and get closer to the compressor. Right now, there is a distinct surging hiss if you put your ear next to the interior radiator. Like it is trying to push fluid through, pressure rises, pressure fall. But, it is just a sound. I have no idea what is going on inside. I def. want to replace both the fridge and freezer fans. The freezer fan isn't working either, but it is plenty cold inside.

Widespread problem with evaporator leaks on these muthahs. Looks like you got one. Call Sub-Zero, they'll probably arrange to have the repair done for you either free or with some type of concession, depending on age.

Do you still have to pay for the workmanship still? I had no idea it might be under the 12yr warranty. That helps a little. I just called and made an appointment with a service dealer. $153 just to show up. I don't even make that much in a full days work. Grrrr Last edited on Tue Dec 1st, 2009 05:59 pm by CostcoMan |

Yes Subzero Authorized. I called subzero and they recommended them. They need the serial number to authorize no charge on the parts if it is under warranty. I don't have that with me, but I remembered the sticker said build in 2001 inside the freezer with the 800 number. Too bad the work is not included. That will be the expensive part. I'm in the wrong business Last edited on Tue Dec 1st, 2009 06:17 pm by CostcoMan |

Finally got my fridge fixed by a professional. The guy said it was a leak in the sealed system. Somewhere in the evaporator. He said he has no idea where, but that you just replace the entire part. He said there was a problem with the metal used and the new refrigerant fluid. The replacement part was covered under warranty and should be better. He replaced it in 45 mins. and charged me $471.00 I am in the wrong business. Should have been a repair man. Thanks for everyone's help.

Well fridge has broke again. This time the fridge section stops working every two weeks or so and ruins all my food. I turn it off for 10 mins, turn it on and it works again for another few weeks until it just stops again. The switches for the lights and fan work fine. The light goes out and the fan on when I close the door. The seals are all in good shape. Does anyone have anything I can try before I spend another $400 on this fridge??? Please?? Thanks
