Oh great Samurai, I come seeking your guidance and expertise… I have a Kenmore Coldspot refrigerator model number 106.56534400 with an inoperative icemaker. I have read several posts and conducted some troubleshooting. I think that I may have found the solution but wanted to confirm with the Master. I have determined that the optical system is working. Using a jumper I can get the tray to fill with water. After giving the water time to freeze, I can again use a jumper to initiate the harvest cycle. Everything works and the icemaker dumps the cubes into the bin. So… if the optical system is working, water can flow through the water line and I can trick (jump) the system into filling and then harvesting, I need to install a new control module right? Thanks in advance for your help. Love the website!

So, you be sayin' that the problem is the icemaker won't initiate the harvest cycle on its own? Here's the repair manual for these over-blown icemakers.

Not exactly sure what the "harvest cycle" is comprised of. Here's the deal... it won't fill with water or dump the frozen cubes out unless I jump the thermostat and force it to fill with water, wait for it to freeze, and then jump it again to get it to drop the cubes into the bucket. Does that make any sense?

The freezer temp appears to be OK, everything in there is frozen solid. I assume the thermostat is contained within the control module so replacing the control module would solve the issue right?

Thermostat is a separate part from the control module. You can test the thermostat for continuity at good freezer temps (less than 15F). If open, it's bad; if closed, replace the control module.

your thermostat located in the mold but you have to remove the module to replace. personally i would change the icemaker. http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-627985-%3d%3di820052&PartID=820052
