Dearest Exalted Leader,

It has been many moons since you guided me through the art of antique waffle iron element insulation repair! After I fixed it, it sold on eBay for $750,000! Thank you Great Kindness.

I come to you now with a problem of a different sort. I have the greatly acclaimed Fridgidare FGF326A gas oven with electronic control board. The oven stopped lighting a few days ago. When I start it to bake or broil, after a couple seconds there is a click in the control panel and nothing happens. There is no error message displayed, the display shows the bake mode light and temperature setting and it just stays that way.  Click, nothing. Click, nothing.

I have removed the sheet metal and checked all the connections and all appears good. Tried again. Click, nothing. Click, nothing.

Now I have surgically removed the ignitor and all looks well. Being without any scary meters, I have connected one wire to my Labrador's nose and the other to ground and nothing happens.

I would simply like to order one of these wacky ignitors and put it in and thus be able to bake my imported Bornio boars head I just received. But I would not like to waste 40 smackaroos if it could be something else

Is there, Exalted Leader, something else to cause this utter failure besides a faulty ignitor?

I beg for your forgiveness if I have offended you with my ignorance!

Your humble follower awaiting your wisdom,

Steve in Butte, Montana

The Ignitor should glow (somewhat) unless it's cracked ...

It could also be a bad Oven Controller ...

If you could have your dog carefully connect the Ignitor to a source of 120v AC, and see if it glows ...

If you could measure the current draw, it should be about 2.8A to 3.2A after 30 seconds ...

if you have a Harbor Freight Store near you

sometimes on sale... bring print-out to store

What is the ceramic block on the gas inlet that the wires run through? Do I tie these together and apply the 120V to the plastic 2 prong plug? Ignitor is part #5303935066

The (117v) Ignitor is in series with the (3v) Gas Safety Valve.

If you connect the two wires of the Ignitor by itself to 120v it should glow.
