I ordered three of the thermistors. . .

(and the refrigerator is still cold)

Two questions:

1. On a scale of 1 to 10. . . how difficult is it to replace a thermistor?
2. On a scale of 1 to 10. . . how difficult is it to replace the mother board?
3. What do you think of the idea of replacing the thermistors first and seeing if that fixes the problem? I can always order the motherboard if the thermistors don't fix it. . .

Thanks all for the diagnostic help!

that's three questions ...

1)  cut & splice (better if also soldered), &  [tape or wire nuts w/ silicone sealer]

2) Mother Board on back of Fridge ..coulple of connectors.. and plastic stand-offs ...

3) yes

Excellent! I think I can handle that. Thanks for the advice. I'll post an update when my parts arrive and I install them and am basking in the warm glow of success (or hopefully the cool glow of success).

Sparky-

As a precaution- take the relay off the compressor and shake it.  Then smell it up close.

If it rattles, or sounds like it has dirt shaking around inside, it's bad.

If it smells like a burnt-up vacuum cleaner belt, it's bad.

Those relays don't always make it real obvious when they're out.  They can go intermittent for a while before failing entirely.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check the relay when I have it turned off to replace the thermistors.
