Kenmore DW model 665.17374301 has a few issues. 1) Most of the time it stays in the wash cycle or wash/sensing cycle for hours. 2) Just now was able to get it to go through the Normal Wash / SaniRinse / Dry cycle, but it took over 2 hours.  According to the service document with the DW it states it should be around 90 minutes. At the end of this cycle the Sanitized light blinks and the Clean light is a solid green.

Observations:

When the tub is filled the water does NOT cover the heating element.  I assumed this may be an issue.  The float is free and the switch activates before the water reaches the element.

During the wash cycle occasionally the input current is 10 to 12 amps, which I assumed is the heating element coming on.  But it does not stay on very long, minutes.

At times the powdered soap or capsules do not fully dissolve.

The drying cycle draws just over 4 amps which is consistent for the drying element current.

The water drains OK and is not a problem.

The fill water is around 125F.

Any suggestions why it is not cycling through would be greatly appreciated.

Chuck

Thanks for the quick reply. The relay soldering and board look like new, no signs of cold solder joints or thermally challenged components or connections.:?

the water level should not cover the element...will stop just beneath it. The prolonged cycle is due to the dishwasher doing a thermal hold looking for a higher temperature of the water. The diswasher will pause up to 3 times to try and reach the desired temp. after 3 times if temp. isn't reached the control anvances and completes cycle. if your sure that your water temp. is 120-125F I would be checking the heat circuit...schematic located on tech sheet.

If I'm recalling correctly through the fermented fog, there was a heating element and control board upgrade on these dishwashers. Is your heating element round or a polygon?

check to see how long the Heater Relay is energized, and check the Thermostat.

and check the Thermistor resistance.
