I am experiencing issues with particles in water and ice. I have replaced the filters and run 5 gallons of water out with no improvement. I am convinced that it is simply a deposit/build up in the tank or line, so decided to either clean it or replace it. Problem is I can't find the water tank in the service manual anywhere. I think it is in the freezer door, but cannot find any "access" point. So: 1. Where is the tank and how is it accessed? 2. Any suggestions on how to clean out this build up or do I replace the tank? Symptom: Small opaque flakes floating in water. Have to hold glass up to light to see them, but they are there. Ice allowed to fully melt has same "stuff" in it. Thanks in advance for any assistance! Steven

Most of these refrigerators have a large panel covering the whole back wall of the refrigerator section. All the shelves and crispers have to be removed to pull the back wall off. The reservoir will be there. Usually, floaties are caused by using a soft vinyl hose on the water feed from the wall. Switch to a copper or stainless line. Then flush out your water reservoir manually by running at least 4 quarts of water thru it with the filter bypassed if possible. This should flush out the particulates. What are you using for water supply line to the refrigerator?

The water source is copper line. The connection from source to fridge is stainless. Unit has plastic lines installed for water tubes (see attached diagram). From fitting on lower right back, the line runs up to the top left, enters water filter, then exits and runs parallel to first line back to fitting. From fitting one lines runs up back of unit and enter freezer (i assume going to icemaker as it is located there). Another line enters through the hinge in the bottom of the freezer door, which I am assuming goes to a holding tank in the door, but cannot verify as I have no idea how to disassemble to door (no visible screws). It just dawned on my while typing that both the water and the ice have these particles (answer seen after full glass of ice is left to melt). If the line to the icemaker does not go to the water tank, then the issue must lie eslewhere. Unit is only 16 months old and this issue just started last month after a month of very little use. I have now changes filters twice and run more than 15 gallons of water through the dispenser and 5 full trays of ice, no change. Obviously I need to clean or replace all lines and if possibe the holding tank. Are there lines to use to replace the plastic ones that came on the unit? Where would I look to find such replacements? Getting desperate and really appreciate any advice. Steven Attachment: lg water tubes2.pdf (Downloaded 4 times)

I don't think that model uses a "water tank". It may use a series of "tubes". White "flakies" in ice is from calcium in the water that freezes, then appears as white "flakies" in a glass of water, when melted.
