I am too lazy to walk upstairs and get the model number right now, but maybe this question is general enough to be answered without it.

I have a downdraft Jenn air electric cooktop. I replaced the coil burners with a set of USED ceramic glass burner cartridges. They fit just fine.

My issue is - one of the burners heats up slowly until glowing red hot. It appears to be working normally. The other glows red hot within one second of turning it on. Is this a problem? I am afraid to use it, since I have never seen an element get hot that fast.

Thank you, Greg

Take a look at the receptacle that the cartridge plugs into. Look for pitting on the cartridge spades and sloppy fit. Check voltages. May need to replace the receptacle. Be prepared to remove a bizillion screws.

Get the model number of the cartridge.  You may have one regular burner, and one Halogen which glows red within a second or two as the switch is turned on.
