Kenmore frost free upright freezer (Frigidaire) #253.9280810

I acquired this freezer from a little old lady down the street, so I have nothing invested in it.  The temperature alarm was going off, so she bought a new freezer and I helped her swap them out.

I unbolted the evaporator after it had been running an hour or so, the frost seems to be heavier at the top:[/img]

Compressor seems to run right, but after being plugged in overnight, the temp alarm starts a very irritating beep.....beep.....beep.  So I pulled the control board to check for a reset or something.  NADA!

The board has a frigidaire part # 216264400 but it does not seem to be available.   Do you guys think the board is bad?    I don't mind putting some money into it, but I have to keep it reasonable or it gets turned into a smoker.  It looks like a very nice freezer.

Thanks for all your input.

get started with your smoker conversion...your pic of the evap after 1 hour tells all...sealed system failure ( leak, restriction, poor pumping compressor).

you should have an even frosting on the coil ,top to bottom, not just top left.
