Does the light come on when you open the frig door?  If it worked before that is....

The light did work before. Nothing now. The outllet is fine. I have my small fridge pluged in to it and its running fine. I checked current through the cord to the back of the fridge and I have 120 going to that point.

Sure is strange even the light is out now.....the light would work even if the frig was stuck in defrost...guess all to do is check where you have lost voltage from where the cord connects inside the frig...

So do you think its probably a wiring problem or possibly a bad component. If the later, what parts shouild I check and are there specs out that indicate good or bad?

i am going to guess ,because you did not say . that this fridge is 10 years old ?  amanas around that age had a problem with a plastic connection strip on the back behind a long cover that runs up the back of the box  . all the wires plug into this strip and make all your connections  . check there first  . lift the tab on the power cord and remove it from the strip and look inside for it to be burned .... you will get the idea as you go along . .. if you find a problem , you might have to "MAKE DO " i dont think you can buy these parts . so  ,SLODER , CRIMP CONNECTIONS , and last and not the best wire nuts :X  GOOD LUCK

Yes, I recall this issue as well, there was a white wire that would fall off of the block, remove the metal cover at the lower right side of the rear of the fridge and look for a wire that has come off of the connector
