I noticed my dishes not being cleaned well on the upper rack and the detergent not fully exiting the chamber. I took out the upper spray arm and cleaned out the calcified matter but no luck. Water level in the tub covers the bottom removable perferated plate and above the tube assy. I ran the dianostic test with no faults registering. I took the spray arm outside and ran my garden hose into the spray arm at 7 gal/min and it sprays but still won't spin, I don't recall if it was suppose to to be so loose on the tube assy as it seems to lose the build up of pressure. I'm thinking either I goofed up the spray arm somehow or possible circulation pump problems not provide enough juice to spin the arm. Any thoughts? the wife has me doing them by hand until I fix it.....

remember the position of the upper sprayarm and start the machine. wait until the second fill then check a few times and see if the arm has moved. check and clean your filters. tighten the nut that is below the sprayarm and holds it in place.

Ok, I have taken out the screens and cleaned them, cleaned out the tiny holes in the tube assy perferations and made sure the upper spray arm is locked in (it's a 1/4 turn type) ran the dianogstics again untill after the drain cycle. I positioned the spray arm and checked it twice but it never moved. The spray arm tilts downward and fills with water but just gushes out the end hole. Seems more like high volume, low pressure water. Any other ideas?

You could very well have a broken wash motor impeller. I just came across a Bosch doing the same basic thing, you could hear the wash pump motor going but it was much more quiet then normal and when you open the door real fast the arms never moved and you would only have fountains of water kind of mushing up in about 3" streams out the spray arm holes. The front half of the impeller that has the water mover vanes separated from the rear half of the impeller which is attached to the motor shaft. The slight amount of friction moves the front half of the impeller real slow and only gives very slight pressure to the spray arms, not enough to turn them or spray water out at any kind of usable pressure. I was able to actually verify that was the problem by reaching my finger into the entrance of the wash motor and hooking your finger upwards you can fell the loose part of the impeller turns free and if you reach your finger straight in and try to turn the hex area on front of impeller you can fell the resistance when you turn it because you are actually turning the motor now.

Yes, it still is pumping, but without enough pressure - this is a common failure

Stuck my finger in the hole...front impeller had resistance and was not free floating, used the 8mm nut driver and rotated the main shaft to make sure there wasn't obstruction...still just flows and doesn't spin the upper spray arm. I did take the arm outside again and tried to force the hose water in and still no spin. After looking at the hub and spray arm connection there appears to be alot of wear creating quite a gap. Could it just be the gap or wear that allows the water to escape thus lowering the pressure to turn the arm? The hub wear is >.02" and the gap is around .06" I appreciate everyone's tech tips..thanks! Jim Attachment: Hub wear.jpg (Downloaded 37 times)

I went ahead and purchased the impeller kit, can this be done easily without removing the unit from under the counter? Anything else I should be aware of?

Nyet, tovarish-- unit will need to pulled from the counter to access the motor from the side. Download the service manual for this dishwasher from the repair manual stash and you'll see what I be sayin'. Not as a big a deal as it may sound.
