had E1 F5 error code. searched the forums, did as recomended, the e1 f5 code is gone, but i have a LOC message on the keypad that i cannot get to go away. tried:

disconnecting power 24 hours

holding down oven light button for 5 seconds

cancel button 5 seconds

messed with latch

pushing various other buttons on the keypad....

keep getting beep beep beep sound, 3 beeps, with no change in LOC status. there is no lock icon (a little padlock) only the word LOC...

couldn't find a fix for this searching forums....

recomendations?

thanks.

F5 E1 Door latch not operating

1. Verify error code by pressing and holding CANCEL/OFF key for 5 seconds. Momentarily (less than 5sec.) press CANCEL key again to remove error code display.

2. Program and start the Clean mode. Observe to see if door locks. If it does not, inspect the locking mechanism from the solenoid to the latch pawl and door to find the cause of the problem. If the door is not locking, then 1 minute from the start of the Clean, the F5 E1 code will again be displayed. Press CANCEL key to remove error code display.

3. Once any mechanical problems with the latch mechanism have been corrected, program and start a Clean cycle (after, if necessary, clearing F5 E1 error code) to ensure proper operation of the door lock. Immediately cancel the Clean mode to observe proper operation of door unlock.

no luck... after 7 seconds of holdling down the cancel/off i get three beeps. then pushing the cancel and holding down for less than 5 sec, i get one beep, and no change in the LOC display
if hold down cancel/off for 5 sec, no beeps, then push cancel/off for less than 5 sec, one beep, no change....

next step?

LOC is not an error, it's just saying that the Oven Door is locked ...

may be a problem with the Door Lock Switches ... (from earlier error F5 E1)

must be, the door certainly isn't locked... isn't there a lock icon? like a little padlock that is supposed to show when locked? regardless... what do you think my next step should be? i looked at the lock on the door, messed with it a bit, seems okay, nothing obvious.. .wiring issue maybe? what do you suggest?

Check the Door Latch Switch to see if it's mechanically activated ...

Try disconnecting one connector on the Door Latch Switch ...

door latch switch....
mechanically activated? it must be, as it's not manually activated...
where would i find that door latch switch connector?
take off the back of the stove and try the wiring back there?
this is different than the selenoid that activates the door latch?

i took off the back of the unit as here is what i found:
the cam is in the open position (this makes sense, i can open the oven door)
i can manually rotate the motor arm/cam to the locked position, i get the lock'd indicator on the display (while LOC is still displayed)
then, the motor automatically rotates the arm/cam back to the unlocked position.
there is a noteable "CLICK" sound at both the unlock and lock position
i get this same "CLICK" sound everytime the push pin that is the switch for the oven light goes in or out
EXCEPT, if i manually move the motor to lock, when the motor starts to auto rotate the arm back to unlock, if i toggle the push pin/oven light switch, there is no "CLICK". so no "CLICKING" while motor is runnig.

I don't know if any of that clicking sound is relavent, but it seemed odd to me....

anyway, i am guessing something will need replacing, but i still don't know what....

what's next?

any ideas here? my oven needs to get working again relatively soon....

and i don't think LOC display means the unit thinks the door is locked:
the door is not locked and
the word lock'd comes on the display when i manually rotate the cam and actually lock the door.... then lock'd disappears when the cam rotates to the unlock position....

all the while LOC is still displayed....

thanks...

I asked my 5 year old .....

"Child Lock"

Press and hold START/ENTER for 5 seconds. You will hear 3 tones followed by a single one.

“Loc” and “LOCK’D” will disappear from the temperature display.
