This $800 dishwasher replaced a builders grade whirlpool about 2 years ago. it has never cleaned dishes like my $200 builders grade. I never should have gotten rid of that thing but it sounded like a jet engine every time it ran and I couldn't hear my 7.1 THX surround system but thats a different board...The Maytag is quiet, maybe because it isn't working right!

None of the lights on the top of the door illuminate, I suppose its in one of the selections because it does operate and sprays water. I know it's not on heated dry and I suspect some of those extra features don't work either.

I have no idea where to begin without a all of the service and repair manuals. Since this may be a known problem it may also be an easy fix...If someone could supply those manuals I'll tear it apart tomorrow since I get to stay home until someone wants to hire a good project manager, but thats a different board...

thanks in advance

So hello - no other posts found on Maytag Quiet Series. I have MDB9601AW Quiet Series 300 bought in 2005 that I am trying to repair for my in-laws.

Some strange light dispaly on the top of door control, no display on the front. Bottom line, can't really set and start a cycle. Power looks good. Seems to be something with the controller board or the control panel.

Tried replacing the controller board, ng. Control panel on order.

These models seem to have significant issues and poor overall performance regarding these two parts. Surprised (should I be?) that a sealed control pad would be failed so soon, but that at least appears to be the case on this one.

One thing I found difficult in troubleshooting was in the reference to the membrane readings in the technical information doc. It mentions the pins on J1 but there's no pictorial reference. There are 18 pads on the ribbon, but not on the connector top side. So tough to understand the physical test points just by looking at the board. Are you supposed to be measuring from the pins on the underside of the board?? Looks like that might be the case. That's just a bit awkward to do, but looking at the board outside of the washer that seems to be the only way to measure.

Looking for tips, etc. I do have the schematics, tech info, etc. Can't run any of the programs for auto test since everything is insane right now as far as top panel front panel LED behavior.

Any help or tips welcome

Most likely problem is the touchpad/console assembly.   Rarely do the controller board go bad on these, but see an overabundance of touchpad problems in these Maytag models.
