Hi,

Our ice maker decided to take the summer off. The refidge is about 5 years old and has been fine and dandy making ice on a regular basis, then out of the blue, just in time for summer, there was the gone fishing sign. NO ICE FOR YOU!

After spending way too much money buying ice, now I finally have time to look into this.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to look into this it would be great, or do I have to replace the icemaker.

The water line is fine. The water dispenser works and the ice auger runs. I did unplug the fridge and remove the ice maker. When I put it back in, the water filled and the ejector rotated. It appears to have froze the ice, although it won't eject it.

What's the Freezer temperature ..

Freezer must be at +15F or colder for Icemaker to sense water is frozen, then eject ...

So is the rake still at the 1 o'clock position, or has it moved down and stalled on top of the ice (approx 3 or 4 o'clock)?

Freezer temp was around +20F. Turned colder and now is at -12F, but still no action.

After checking periodically, I have noticed that the ice does melt somewhat. The rake was in the 4 O'clock position. I pulled the front cover off and lifted the wire bail to the off position and wiggled the gear, and it cycled around with the partially melted ice cubes stuck on the rake and stopped in the 1 O'clock position.
I just put the bail back down. Now to wait.....

Sounds as if you may have an issue with the motor module, a whole icemaker is only a few dollars more and much simpler to replace - RepairClinic part #1857, at $110.00, buys many bags of ice ...................

Just to update, took a quick look this morning and the rake is now resting on top of the ice.

If the rake has stalled on top of the ice cubes, it is waiting for the heater to melt the cubes to push them from the mold. The heater could be at fault, or more likely the motor module, icemaker #1857 can solve this

Thanks kdog,

I'll most likely order the ice maker, but it will have to wait till I get the funds.

Any idea if there are any used parts out there, or is it not worth it for something like this?

You have a used one, would you like to buy it ?

Last time i bought ice, it was under $2.00 for a big-assed bag, $110.00 buys quite a few of them
