Working on a Whirlpool dishwasher DU1148XTP that is not maintaining hot water. I did resistance checks on heater element (~10 ohms) and thermostat and both appeared to be good. Resistance check on thermistor read infinity. Could the themistor be the problem? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Yes, the complete model number is DU1148XTPQ1. The dishwasher appears to run though the cycle completely but does not maintain hot water and properly clean the dishes. I also located the instructions on how to run the service diagnotics cycle which looks like it should indicate if a bad themistor is present. I will run that, however, I wanted to do the direct resistance measurements on the components. I really appreciate your help!

PLACE AN AMP PROBE AROUND THE EITHER THE HEATER WIRE OR THE AC LOAD SIDE COMING IN TO THE UNIT. CHECK IT IN A KNOWN HEAT OFF MODE AND THEN IN A KNOWN HEAT ON MODE. IT TELLS YOU WITHOUT DIGGING DEEPER THAN YOU HAVE TO IF THE CIRCUIT IS WORKING. IF YOUR INPUT WATER IS AT LEAST 125 DEGREES AS IT SHOULD BE ( THEY USED TO SUGGEST 140 MIN) IN THE OLD DAYS AND THIS IS STILL THE BEST FOR CLEANING. ANYTHING BELOW 120 DEGREES AND YOU HAVE THE DW TRYING TO BE A WATER HEATER. IT MAKES A VERY INEFFICEINT WATER HEATER THAT COULD TAKE AN HOUR OR MORE TO BRING THE WATER UP TO TEMP IN ORDER TO PROGRESS THE CYCLE. RESISTANCE CAN BE VERY MIS-LEADING AT TIMES; CURRENT IS YOUR BEST INDICATOR.
