Konnichi-wa! Aloha from Hawaii! I'm new to this forum so go easy on me! Sub-Zero 690/S P-1421049 I purchased this side-by-side for $4100 (display model) back in Fall of 2003. It was delivered, then just sat (unplugged) until Jan. 07. The kitchen was finally finished and it was finally set home and turned on. As of today I didn't connect the ice maker yet by the way. After a few months, I noticed icicles dripping from the icemaker area. I removed the ice tray which was very difficult to remove due to the ice build up, and cleaned it. I emailed Sub-Zero about it and never got a reply. I got to busy with work, so I just left it. I would vacuum the condenser and remove icicles over the next few years whenever the "vacuum condenser" light would flash. Yesterday my Wife notices that the goods on the top shelf of the freezer isn't frozen. I open the fridge side and see that the "vacuum condenser" & "service" lights are flashing. Along with an "EE" display where the freezer temp. digits usually are displayed. I thoroughly vacuumed the condenser and the surrounding areas and made sure that the fan is running. I turned off both the unit and circuit breaker at the panel. Turned them both back on after 5 minutes. The "vacuum condenser" light is off now, but the "service" light still flashes with the constant "EE" display. The goods on the top shelf are a lot more frozen than yesterday but the ice cream is still soft. Any ideas? Onegai shimasu! Mahalo (Thank You), Tracy

Thanks for the service manual downloads. Good News! I found the problem for the Freezer "EE" code! The Freezer Compartment Thermistor wire plug was disconnected. Don't ask me how this happened. I'm thinking that it wasn't pushed in completely from the factory, and after numerous vibrations from the door closing, somehow it disconnected. OK, that's that! Now back to my original problem of icicles dripping from the freezer evaporator area. Could it be the "drain tube heater" not working? When the evap. defrosts, does the water somehow work its way down to the drain pan under the fridge? The service manual doesn't have a trouble shooting area for this. It only has the electrical technical data for the drain tube & trough heater components. Keep in mind that my ice maker isn't connected yet. Thanks again!

The freezer evaporator is just to the left of the ice bin. There is a drain pan (white) under it to catch the defrost water. It has a sheet type heater under it and a loop type heaer in the drain tube itself to keep it clear. You can dissassemble it and check the resistance of both heaters and you can force a defrost by holding the "ICE" button in for ten seconds to check if power is going to the heaters.
