If you can see that the gasket is bad you gotta deal with that first. Make sure there is no ice or frost (caused by the bad gasket) or food blocking the airflow. Turn the cold control down 1/2 notch and wait 24 hours. Leave the damper alone. Usually in the middle is the right setting for the damper. If you have to turn the cold control down another 1/2 notch and wait another 24 hours. If you make it down to "1" or "A" and the tea is still freezing I'd say it's time for a cold control.
