Alright, after thoroughly searching the forums for many of my issues over the past few years, I have stopped lurking, registered and coming out of the closet - only after the complete failure of my troubleshooting skills!. I have a GE profile PDW7300 dishwasher that does not completely drain and leaves the dishes with spots. Disposal connection, hoses, flap valve are all good. No obstructions in the drain at the bottom of the tub and when I connect AC directly to the sump motor - it drains completely (at a rate of about 1 cup per 5-8 seconds - seems normal). During the cycle, the bottom fills to just under the heating element (as expected) and the washer pumps well into all three spinners (top, middle & bottom) - I can tell because they all spray me when I open it up quickly! When the unit does drain, it drains well - just not long enough to empty the bottom of the tub. Heeeelp! I am a proud (read stubborn) do-it-yourselfer who refuses to be bested by a dishwasher. Please help me keep my self esteem and beat this dishwasher. --Andrew P.S. I did the Rinse then Reset test and it completely drained after the 2nd 'Rinse & Reset' cycle - the first one still left significant water in the bottom. How long does the Drain Pump operate ? It should drain within, maybe 75 seconds Attachment: GE dw Service Mode Page from 31-9085 Triton XL.pdf (Downloaded 7 times) Last edited on Mon Jan 5th, 2009 04:03 pm by RegUS_PatOff ____________________ RegUS_PatOff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPAY2LsKVEw my video production: “Easter Seals Walk With Me” (also in HQ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EBiLyYXMiA Upon leaving this Earth "Do you want the Smoking or Non-Smoking section ?" |

RegUS_PatOff wrote: How long does the Drain Pump operate ? When I did the 'Rinse/Reset' it ran for EXACTLY 75 seconds - no 'maybe' about it. With little water left, it obviously pumped much less than one cup every 8 seconds. I should correct my statement above, when there is plenty of water, it pumps 1 cup every 8 - 10 seconds. --Andrew

So, ... when the d/w is full, and you stop it in the middle of a cycle, and Rinse/Reset ... does it drian for 75 seconds, and does that empty it completely ? corrected: prior parts pictured were for Main Motor may need this Drain pump assembly click on picture ![]() Last edited on Tue Jan 6th, 2009 01:44 am by RegUS_PatOff ____________________ RegUS_PatOff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPAY2LsKVEw my video production: “Easter Seals Walk With Me” (also in HQ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EBiLyYXMiA Upon leaving this Earth "Do you want the Smoking or Non-Smoking section ?" |

I know you checked the Disposal connection. Did this include (if you have one) the air gap on the top of the sink? Perhaps some gunk stuck at the cap.

Try running it empty-- no dishes, no detergent. Any change in residual water level?

I need 2-3 cycles of rinse/reset to get the water out. On the motor shaft seal and impeller kit - since mine has a separate sump, would I just replace that assembly? Thanks!

Samurai Appliance Repair Man wrote: Try running it empty-- no dishes, no detergent. Any change in residual water level? No, running a full cycle leads to about 1/2" of water in the bottom - w or w/o dishes or detergent. 2-3 "rinse/reset" cycles will get rid of it. It turns out that I am only pumping a cup every 10 seconds when it goes to the sink - 5-8 seconds when going to a bucket on the floor (hmmmm.... not such a good test afterall!) Could this just be a sump that is not 'sumping' so well and not able to drain the tub in time? If the total usage is 4-6 gallons (maybe 1.5 gallons per cycle) and I am pumping a cup out every 8-10 seconds, I will only get out 6 cups in 60 seconds or 9 cups in 90 seconds. Seems too slow to drain the tub during a normal cycle. Last edited on Mon Jan 5th, 2009 11:37 pm by sachsab |

If this works, I'll share some of my son's homemade rootbeer with you (and have something to wash the bottles with!) No kidding, he is a bit of a rootbeer aficianado and this stuff is amazing. http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Root-Beer-Home-Kit/dp/B0006V8LG8/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b Cheers! Clean dishes with a dry bottom (... sounds like my kids...) Just installed the pump and water comes out many time faster than before. I guess the lesson here is to measure how fast the pump empties into the sink (not into a bucket) and make sure it is plenty fast enough to empty the dishwasher.
