SX22SW Technical Information

The Amana SX22SW  uses an ADC (Adaptice Defrost Control) Board

"Defrost occurs after predetermined length of compressor run hours. Compressor run time between defrost changes, or adapts, depending upon recent history of defrost lengths (time it takes for defrost terminator to open after defrost heater has been turned on)."

Thank you, I went back after defrost with a new defrost heater, ohmed out the old one and it was the same as the new and NO NEW ice build up. I asked to come back in a week to see if it is iceing up and then I will put in that defrost timer suggested ( i did get it)

Thank you, Purd

if you replace any component in the defrost circuit it should be the terminator. This is the most common cause of failure (especially on amanas)

FYI if you have not found the defrost control board , most that use this board are behind the front bottom cover ( griill ) in a black plastic box
