I have had problems with my PSS26NSTA SS not keeping correct temperature.  Veggie bins freezing, temps rising, etc.  Last time the fridge went through a full defrost and we put it back.  It has been behaving ever since (until now) for two reasons.

1.  Keep the top shelf of your freezer as empty as possible.  The only thing we put up there are spare ice trays stacked towards the front or frozen veggie boxes.  NOTHING shoved in the back and plenty of clearance under the icemaker bin.

2.  Every now and then, pull out the ice bin and manually rotate the auger.  It helps keep things moving.  And about once a month, I dump that bin out entirely and let it defrost completely.  Little chips of ice build up in there and jam it.

If your fridge seems to be running and running but making no progress in cooling the unit down, before you go nutty on temp controls and replacing fans, flaps & controllers, try shutting off the icemaker first!  Fridge was recently running almost all day with temps on the rise.  I turned off the icemaker and took out the bin to defrost before I went to bed, and it was back to normal by morning.

Before turning the icemaker back on, I poured a little hot water into the tray to melt and unstick the stuck cube I saw in the tray.  Fridge worked fine for a few ice cycles, but upon closer inspection, the dispenser flap over the tray is broken, so the "stuck cube" repeated itself and the fridge went off to the races with temps on the rise.

I'll be doing without the ice maker until I can fix it.

Hope this is helpful to some.

Yeah, who'da thunk it right?  Thinking back over the past year or so, the fridge/freezer temps have always acted up when the ice maker went phooey.  Who knows, maybe the tray heater goes on and stays on?  Might explain why cubes seem to melt and get stuck to the metal auger in the bin occasionally.  Usually the temp fluctuates within what GE calls normal cycling temps ... but my popsicles beg to differ.  I still can't figure out why I never saw any fluctuation except if the door was open for too long for the first year!

At least now I know the culprit although it doesn't make me too happy!   The part is not too expensive.

I sooooo wish I had found this place before we bought our GE's (fridge & dw).  We got very good deals on our units, so when the time comes that they need any major $$ repair we'll just replace them.  I feel badly for anyone who paid regular retail price for these POS's.
