Okay I am done with doing dishes. I want a dishwasher, and instead of my appliance guy telling me a name of a certain dishwasher that will clean my dishes really well, he told me to look in the 400 dollar range. Thing is, I don't have 400 dollars to spend on a new one.
I have found two dishwashers in my area being sold. One is brand new that was dropped during shipping. The tub is cracked and the metal rail attatched to the tub is bent. i hope I did it right, but I did include a pic as an attatchement. The damage is in the bottom left corner of the machine.
Frigidaire Dishwasher Model # FDB4315LFC2
I read that you can epoxy a hole in the tub, and this is being sold for 149.00, when it is normally 600.00? , is this a good deal?
Next is a bosch five years old. model #
SHU 5305 UC/12
She has said make an offer. The problem is
"a few weeks ago, it started acting funny. It runs and cleans, but will get caught on the 2 hour delay and I can't get it to reset.Mostly, I cannot get it to start without the 2hour delay. It does run thru the delay time. It does run and does clean, but not with out the delay of 2 hours."
So now can you tell me if either of these are a good purchase?

Are you purchasing the Frigidaire from a dealer?? If so, an authorized service company could replace the tub assembly under the 12 month warranty. I wouldn't trust epoxy to seal that hole. No way.
The Bosch is by far a superior unit, if you can live with the 2 hour delay issue for awhile until you can save up the money to have a technician come out and diagnose the problem and fix it.
In essence, I would weigh the cost of each. If you can get the Bosch for what you're considering paying for the Friggy or close to what your paying, I'd go with it. It's more difficult to install though if you're installing it yourself.

Couple other options to consider:
1. Here in rural New England, towns maintain "stump dumps" where people haul their scrap metal, old appliances, and, yes, stumps for disposal. I frequently go there and rummage through the appliances looking for ones that are't in too bad a shape and bring 'em home. Most of the time, the problem with it was something really simple. A part or two and few bucks later, it's working great. I either keep it, if it's one that I needed at the timer, sell it through the local trading paper, or give it away to friends or the local Habitat for Humanity. Don't know if you have a similar resource near you or one that you could drive to out in the country, but that's certainly an option for finding a new dishwasher at the right price.
2. Check with Craigs List: http://www.craigslist.org/

I agree with Goodwill being a good place for things, although the Goodwill here in Milwaukee, WI doesn't take aplliances, but the Salvation Army store does.

Yeah. the last dishwasher i bought from a thrift store ended up not draining, and leaving the dishes dirtier than before. My appliance man comes out and says nothing wrong with it except small leak at motor. He says I just need to replace it, with a 400.00 dishwasher for my size family. I don't know why he thought it was just fine. Then my dad took a look at it, and said it drained fine. THis dishwasher is evil. It knows that I want it gone, but it acts right for the people thatsay they can fix it. I finally threw the racks away so I have no excuse tok eep it now.My husband is leary of a dishwasher that is at a secondhand store because even though he is willing to put one in for me, he is not keen on putting in 3 more before we find one that works.
So do you think this bosch for 50.00 is not worth it?
I am taking your advice on the whole cracked tub frigidaire .
