May be a dumb question here, but last night I was sweeping under my fridge and all of a sudden the water dispenser quit working, Looked under the fridge and notice a red switch which i turned clockwise until i heard it click and soundede as the fan and compressor started running. Anyhow, this morning, freezer was pretty much thawed out, turned sred switch again until fan stopped running, left for work and came back 4 hours later and now everything is working as it should again. I guess my question is, Is the defrost timer supposed to be automatic and if I accidentally kicked it into defrost mode last night, should the timer have gone through it's cycle and everything have been ok this morning. I called a service tech out and I would hate to waste the service call fee if all should be ok now. Is there any sure way for me to tell if the timer needs to be replaced? The techs are supposed to be here in about 4 hours so I would like to cancel the call if the only problem was me turning he fridge into a perpetual defrost mode.

Thanks in advance,

- Mike

That's the Defrost Timer and yes, it's automatic. Should be OK now.

The water / ice dispenser should always work, unless the freezer door is open.
