Konichiwa, most honorable Samurai (and company....)

I have a Panasonic Microwave Oven of indeterminable age (countertop, NOT manufactured for built-in application) that is MUCH abused by my husband (age 51) and offspring (male, age 20) with little to no regard for COVERING foods/beverages that may "splatter" all over the interior of said unit; as of this past weekend, when I made my EVER FUTILE effort to clean the interior, there was a fibrous piece that was bolted to the right hand wall of the interior cabinet that...well...DISINTEGRATED. I have not been able to locate a schematic of the interior of the unit to determine what this part is (wave guide?)...It was fastened to the middle right hand wall of the unit with one screw (Phillips type) in the upper left hand corner...the other 3 corners were simple slits that this 4.5 x 3 inch piece of what appeared to be a semi-metallic/waxed piece of gloss coated paper fit into.

Any suggestions?  It's a VERY inexpensive Micro-buzzer, so, I'm just curious as to whether (sp?) I should bother...or not.

that cover is like a window it lets the microwaves out and keeps food splaters from getting to the magntron antenna that gets hot and sometimes glows on some of them  . the waveguide is the metal tube behind it , not the cover itself  . i dont know what the cover is called .but i know it can work fine without it BUT  if food should splatter up in there you might go from FINE to unsafe real fast  .i have never seen anyone get or replace this cover  . you might try GLOBAL MICRO out of texas . for the part . if you cant get the # i have it in my office , ust let me know your haveing trouble . good luck       I UST DID A RE CHECK AROUND  AND SEARS HAS IT , PART # NN-S550BF AND ITS CHEEP .

You guys ROCK!

I've been watchin' you'all for quite some time...I USED to actually schedule Maytag ABS (All Brand Service), went on to "Negotiations" and now work for MAYPOOL...but you guys are the BOMB, will get back to you once I check out the part you've suggested!

I still am employed by an "innovative"  global "White/Durable Goods" manufacturer; my job is to deal with "escalated" calls, and do what, if anything, can be done for the consumer....

SAV Washers, anyone??

Finally got of my lazy behind and installed part. I mean, it wasn't exactly rocket science, but beats the PANTS off of buying a new MW!

Again, many thanks for all of your assistance.:pint:Beers to you!
