Idyllic pools on kitchen floor led to discovering that water leaking from the seal between motor and pump housing was spinning off shaft in every direction.

Friendly neighborhood service man tells me the entire motor - impellar housing assembly must be replaced ( also kindly offered to install a new machine for a "great" price) because the seal on the shaft to the housing leaks.

Question: Is this true?????  the replys to the potential sears service guy would lead me to believe other wise....

Sending many thanks and thoughts of cold beer in advance of your reply!!

It was that way on the older models.  The pump-motor assys were welded  at post supports..... Had to buy them as a set..... your's  is assmbled with screws,          disassemble...... rebuild......reassemble.....   You can do this from the front, but if you have large hands or do not like laying on your stomach/sides, and it is yours, just remove the whole unit, lay it on it's back (remove dishes first) and you will get a good look of all the other componants for repairs down the road..........  check with the Parts Clinic on delivery time and make this a sunday,  2  can project........... keep us posted     fix/ no fix?

Just did one of these last week . Pretty simple procedure. Like cert tech says, you can do it in place or pull whole unit. Kill power to the unit first. Remove the wires from the motor. Remove the two clamps, items #452 and #457. Remove motor support, item #420. Use pair of pliers and remove item #432. Don't worry about messing it up, just pull it the hello off of there, it is replaced by a chopper blade anyway. Unscrew item #428. Remove #427 and #431. Unscrew impeller #429. Remove seal assembly #434. If shaft area where seal is located is very rusty and pitted, you may have to replace the whole assembly. Assembly comes with new style motor that runs much quiter than the one used in this model. Availabe from RC. Use this site so Samurai gets credit for it. Helps keep this site goin'.
