OK so I am only a humble and ill equipped grasshopper armed with an old analog multimeter. According to the Appliance Repair Wisdom for the Ages I need to check the amps being pulled by the ignitor. The illustration uses a clamp on amp meter, can I check this if my multimeter only has prongs?
The stove itself is unused, however it was in a flood (minor- Napa Valley is a long way from the 9th ward): is this likely to have trashed the ignitors? The burners on the range work fine. The oven: not so much. When I try to light it it clicks about 5 times and then stops. If I hold a match to the pilot light while the clicking is going on it will light, but will shut off as soon as the clicking stops. (Clicking is the ignitor sparking).

That is a great manual- thank you very much for the link.
In fact I have determined that the problem was actually to do with LPG conversion- we were told that it was a natural gas stove, but in fact it had been half converted to LPG. I was able to get the broiler to work by adjusting the orifice hood. So far this has not worked with the Bake burner. As this part is not exactly accessible (!) I am wondering whether it could be blocked, and if so whether it is possible to clean it, or should I just replace it?

did you follow the directions (in reverse) on PDF page 9 & 10 ?
For Natural Gas, the conversion cap on the gas distribution valve, the "LP" should not face up.
Adjust Bake Burner Orifice Hood 2 1/2 turns from bottom.
Adjust Broil Burner Orifice Hood 2 1/2 turns from bottom
...

I am going to try to sort out the orifice hood on the bake burner this evening. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them before I get underneath this thing. Any ideas?

OK so I have done all the electrical tests and can confirm that there is AC at the white(J1-4) and red/white(J1-6) terminals of the Direct Spark Ignition Control, also that there is DC at the Red(J1-1) and Orange(J1-2) terminals, which are the controls for the Bake function.
Broil works fine, so I am assuming that that means that the solenoids are fine for both- the advanced manual says "If one of the solenoids is defective, neither one will operate."
I have opened up the Bake burner's orifice the appropriate number of turns (and more) for Natural Gas.
The ignitor clicks merrily but no ignition. I cannot hear any gas going to it.
Any suggestions??
Given the inaccessibility of the Gas Distribution Valve I want to check with all of you Masters of the Art before I mess around down there.... Help please!

If I remember correct, but, there is a lever on the gas valve that you open/ close for bake operation. It be a bake/broil lever, but if you are going in, you might take a look to see if the lever is up, (on) .....not laying down (off). If it is up, flip it down, then back up, to check if it was partially stuck closed......page 2 of manual.... keep us posted

If you mean the lever on the Gas Distribution Valve (behind the bottom drawer at the back and underneath the oven, that appears to work both Oven and Broiler, so since the broiler works presumably this "manual shutoff valve" is working too. If this is a faulty assumption let me know and I will try it, otherwise any other ideas?? Thanks
