When I open the door there is sometimes a few seconds delay for the oven light to turn on. The clicking sound that accompanies this is delayed also. I sometimes have to open and close the door a couple of times to get the light to come on.
Is this an early warning sign that the oven door light switch needs to be changed? My inner logic tells me that the switch needs to be changed but I have learned that my logic isn'st always correct.
Also when using the key pad it is sometimes hard to enter temps, etc. I may have to push harder or makes sure the surface of the key pad is very clean. Is this a problem in the future or just keep the keypad very clean?
Thanks for your input.

It may be a bad door switch, but the door switch signal goes to the electronic module which has a relay that sends power to the light.

Any suggestions on the diagnostic procedure for these two problems?
What is the procedure for cleaning the keypad switch contacts?

does the oven light come on right away when the "oven light" button on the control panel is pressed ?
you could remove the keypad and may be able to remove the circuit board on the back and take a look at the key press pads.

Sounds like your door switch may be wearing out or might even have some grease in it that is delaying it action. As far as the keypad you really shouldn't have to press very hard or constantly clean it and the problem might be with the control and not the key pad. I would just be gentle with it and wait until it fails.

| So there is nothing else do do here except possibly changing the door switch and waiting for the control to fail?

| Thats about it unless you want to try to do a key pad test (if applicable on this unit) and replace the control. The door switch can usually be repaired, but they are pretty fragile....must easier to just replace it.

I'll keep a close eye on it.
I'll probably just replace the door switch. It is cheap and easy.

Update:
I just replaced the door switch and any delay (which got worse when the oven was hot) is now gone. The light on and off is instantaneous.
It was a very easy 15 min. repair.
Thanks for all your help.
