I have a Fisher Paykel Dish Drawer. In the past, I have had problems with F1 faults as a result of water leaking into the tray at the bottom of the drawers. I have always been able to resolve these problems using the excellent instructions in the "Fisher Paykel Dish Drawer F1 Problem" topic. However, the current F1 fault seems to be caused by a problem with water leaking from the seals around the top of BOTH dish drawers. After drying out the bottom tray, water just leaks in again. I was out of town last week. My maid was at my house and at some point during the day, she called the maintenance man in my condo because the dishwasher was leaking. The maintenance man told me that when he got to the apartment, "the botton drawer of the dishwasher was open and it would not turn off." The bottom dish drawer was making the noise it makes when the drawer is draining. The maintenance man ended up turning off the circuit breaker because pushing the buttons on the dish drawer did nothing. Obviously, the maid had opened the drawer while the power was still on and, presumably, the drawer still sealed. Yesterday morning, I asked my maid why the bottom drawer of the dishwasher had been opened when the dishwasher was running. She said that the dishwasher was leaking and she pulled the door open to try to see what was wrong. I do not know how much force is required to open a dish drawer when it is running and sealed, but I can only imagine that is a lot. Frankly, I think that the maid wanted to add a dish in the middle of the cycle and, despite being told to never open the dish drawers without first pushing the pause button and waiting for the drawer to unlock, she just somehow yanked the drawer open. Last night, I turned on the top dish drawer, but shortly after I could hear the spray arm start to turn, water started to leak from the bottom of th dishwasher onto the floor. I turned the machine off, removed the bottom dish drawer and dryed out the bottom tray with paper towels and blow dryer. I put the drawer back on its tracks and started a rinse cycle on the bottom drawer. Shortly after I could hear the spray arm begin to turn, I noticed that there was some water leaking out the right side of the dishwasher onto the floor. I stopped the bottom drawer and opened it. There was water all over the outside of the right side of the drawer. It seems like the seal at the top of the drawer is no longer good. The spray is shooting onto the top of the drawer and leaking out through the seal. I then opened the bottom drawer as far as I could so that I could see the bottom of the dishwasher behind the drawer and started the top drawer. Shortly after I could hear the spray arm in the upper drawer turning, looking behind the bottom drawer I could see water running down the back wall of the dishwasher. I stopped the cycle. It seems like that on both drawers the seal at the top of the drawer is no longer good. I don't understand how BOTH dishdrawers are leaking through the top seal. I feel like my maid must have done something drastic to cause this problem. I looked at the seals on the top of the drawer and they both look normal to me. Yet water is leaking as soon as the spray arm starts spinning. Could my maid have jarred the entire unit so severly that both drawers are out of alignment and that is caused the problems with the top seals? If anyone has any suggestions as to how I might try fixing this problem, I would be very appreciative. Rob

On F/p drawer models, the lids are pulled down to seal the water in. If something tall was put ln, the lid drive motor(s) threaded shafts slip a few notches. The motors will think that lid is sealed but small gap on right or left side leak. Replaceing the top lid motor s are really not difficult, read the instuction thru a few time and threading the power leads to the board is easy than it looks.

PM me your email address and I'll send you the service manual so you can run diagnostics. Most commonly, the problem is either a split drain hose or one of the lid plate pulldown motors is bad. With the diagnostic mode, you'll be able to manually actuate the lid plate motors and watch 'em. You can also manually let water come into the drawer and then pump it out, looking for leaks in the drain hose.

Just for reference, the Fisher Paykel part number for the upper lid kit actuators is 528112. Dont use the top one until it's fixed - or you can ruin more stuff. We carry these on stock as it is a very common problem on these machines. Like mentioned by Mr. certified, it is usually caused by overloading with tall dishes, or something caused the lid not to close all the way.

I am also having trouble with the lid on the FP DD603 - mine will not open all the way on the right side - top drawer. Not sure if the screw slipped or the motor is not functioning. Can you please send me the service manual!

I just replaced the top drain hose today. Sprung a leak at the loop under the sink. Hadn't been moved in 5 years. I do not believe there is a best way. Now, right top side not sealing. If you could please forward a copy of that same manual for the DD603 purchased in November 2002 to gjcummings@comcast.net Thanks for the help and what appears to be a great site...Nothing personal but hope I do not have to visit often. GJC

The manuals are quite helpful. I have created an interim fix by using vinyl foam weatherstrip tape attached to the top side of the drawer in the same place as the seal contacts the drawer. It is important to align the weatherstripping with the lid seal. I've also observed that hard water will cause calcified solid matter to stick to the seal and this can be easily cleaned off with your fingernail. Don't use a sharp tool on the rubber seal material or else it might damage it. Does anyone have a good (inexpensive) source for the actuator motors? Also, has anyone tried realigning the drive screw and had success, thus not needing to replace the two motors? Steve
