I have a two year old Jenn-Air cooktop that I finally got connected to power today (been lighting with a bbq firestarter since then.) Well, come to find out that the igniters on the left side will not stop clicking after they light the burners.
1) I searched the forums and didn't find this particular model number with this problem.
2) I tried cleaning burner and igniter surfaces with fine grit sandpaper.
Any ideas? Spark module? How hard is that to replace?

| If you turn both on at the same time, will they stop sparking? Also, we are sure the right side is working fine? If it is, the polarity and ground (crucial to this unit) of the outlet are fine and we have to start looking at a failed component.

Wow, thanks for the fast reply! Here's what I've discovered.
1) All four burners spark at the same time when one is 'given the gas' (I'm assuming this is normal).
2) The burners on the right side all work ok AND respark/relight if blown out
3) If I turn both left side burners on and light them both, they'll stop trying to spark.
- Do I need to really get the dremel out and clean these things better? What part do I need to be cleaning?

| You are miswired on the left side. Just switch the wires that go to the igniters and you will be fine. The fact that both stop sparking when you turn both on is an indication of a miss-wire, either at the module, or the igniters. Switching them at the igniter is the easiest fix as long as you have enough wire.

Is this something I'm going to need to remove the cooktop from the countertop to do? If so, do I just need to literally move the spark wires from front to back and vice versa on that side?

| The left side of your unit is miss-wired. The front must go to the back, and the back to the front. You can either switch them at the module, or the igniters themselves (the correct way would be to look at the schematic and correct it at the spot it is wrong but it really does not matter). Some of the units have an access panel under the unit which makes accessing the module pretty easy. Some units have large enough holes under the burners (not the cap the burner itself, usually held on by one or two screws) once they are removed to fish the wires back and forth. Whichever is easier for you.

THIS IS THE GREATEST WEBSITE EVER! Thank you so much for the easy fix. You saved me a ton.
I followed advice, took the spark module down (two 1/4" screws) and swapped the black and blue wires at the module. Could not have been simpler once I knew what to do.
12 pack on the way!
