Here is the problem I am having.  I have a two year old kenmore bottom freezer  fridge  that has always had minor frost build up on the door bin.  We went on vacation three weeks ago and I turned off the water to the house just as a precaution.  When I got back  the freezer was a huge ice block.  I thought that the water leaked out of the water dispenser due to lack of pressure.  So I defrosted it out and cleaned up the water.  I started up the fridge and loaded it up.  It worked great for 5 days and than last night it started it's freeze up again.  I emptied it out again and opened up the inside back of the freezer and the coils weren't that frozen.  They were just lightly frosted.  Right now it is empty and don't know what to do now.  Please help.  I also want to add that in the fridge on the first freeze up there was water coming out under the dispenser inside the door itself.  It had pooled up in the fridge.  Sorry

I don't know that model number, so I will try to give you a general answer on other models, that may apply.  The water will not be coming from the water going into your refrigerator, as you had it turned off.  I think the water build up is coming from moist air entering past the door seal, door not closing right, or around the door bin.  Others with knowledge of this model might have the exact answer.

LG made unit...try this...pull the box out and remove the flap on the end of the drain tube for the defrost drain where it empties into the drain pan under the frig....put a 1 inch plastic pvc cap full of water under this tube so the end of the tube is in the water, this will act like a p-trap to keep the warm moist air from getting pulled back into the freezer when the evap fan is running...be sure to clear out all of the frost in the freezer and be sure that defrost drain line is clear of ice or other gunk.....if this does not solve the problem you will need to replace the motherboard as they have been updated to resolve this issue by not letting the fan motor start running after defrost, delaying the fan from running along with other updated to resolve this frost problem...but try that one dollar fix first with that pvc cap and post the complete model and serial number so everyone can see what you have....we usually will not respond to posts that do not have a complete model number, but since it is a nice day here in Texas, in the 70's, well, .......;)

I had a 3/4 inch cap and it was deep enough to keep the tube submerged.  Will that work or do I need to go get a  1 inch from the depot.

That 3/4 will work, that is what LG says to use, we just went to the 1 inchers because the 3/4 ones here had a rounded top and the 1 inch ones had a flat top, so we just went to them because seemed to sit better in the pan...try your's and see how it goes....

That is funny you say that.  I found a round topped one first and I thought to myself that it wouldn't work.  After digging some more I found a flat head 3/4.  I had sears out here about a year ago when it was in warranty and they said that a frost issue was normal.  I called them today and told them that there normal was unacceptable to me. Since this was a preexisting condition I am trying to get them to step up and take care of this.  We will see what happens with them.   Thanks for your help

Good luck with Sears, they buy everything from others, these products then become the property of Sears, so they will not admit to problems with stuff a lot of times...calling LG will do no good since this is  Sears/Kenmore product now....catch 22 here..
