I have a nearly ten year old fridge with water service to the front door.  My wife complains that the water doesn't taste very good:ooo:.  It does not have a filter, and the water supplied to it comes from a Reverse Osmosis water filter and is clean tasting at its source.

I had the guy that does my RO system flush the fridge line and tank with mild chlorinated water overnite, but that didn't seem to help.  Is it possible to change out the water tank (assuming that is the source of the problem)?  Any other ideas (short of a new fridge or a new wife ;)).

Sure, replace the water tank ref. #38 in this breakdown, part number 2155290, this frig was made by whirlpool...might want to add a filter inline between the RO and the fill valve in the frig, and change it every 6 months or so...

Thanks for the info.  I have ordered the part and will see if this replacement will solve the problem.

Do you have any advice on swapping out the water tank?  Do I get to it from the front, or the back, or a little of both?

Domo Arigato,

Tommaso

Your water tank is located on the fresh food side ,behind the crisper drawers. Remove them to receive your enlightenment. You may need some 5/16" couplings to complete the change- out. Good luck!
