I have a Performa Heavy Duty Washing machine, model PAVT910AWW that had a ring of plastic shavings (alot) under it when I moved it out yesterday. Help! What is wrong? Can you give me instructions on how to fix the problem? Attachment: wm.JPG (Downloaded 16 times)

What you are seeing is parts of your snubber ring that have worn. Is your machine shaking more then normal? That is usually the sign or the reason a technician is summoned. To replace it is about a 40 minute job for a tech with the correct tools. It requires taking the suspension springs off, pulling the whole tub and transmission assembly out (as on piece) and flipping it over. This will then allow you access to your brake area. The brake must be dropped down for access to the snubber ring. Now there is a post for how to remove the brake using longer bolts that you pick up at a hardware store an many a reader has been able to use them to successfully complete this repair. Fellow sublime master Budget Applliance listed the items needed and the procedure to drop the brake down for your reading pleasure. Budget Appliance Repair wrote: You can do the job without the tool, just need to get three screws that are the same threads as the 6, 5/16" bolts holding the stator on. These three new screws have to be about 1 1/2" long.
